Having trouble getting/keeping a decent job. Been at my current job for about three months and I hate it. I don't deal well with people anymore and I am medically DQ'd from the field I worked in the military due to mental diagnosis. 3 jobs in 9 months since I retired. I swear, the only thing that makes it bearable is Xanax, but I don't know what else to do. Anyway, I HAVE to keep trying until I hear back from the VA. Bills that I have to pay and I am NOT gonna be homeless. 2 kids and wife to support. I currently make about 1/4 of what I was making when I retired. I do get retirement pay, but it really isn't all that much. 23 years and I was "encouraged' to retire or face Admin action because I finally snapped one day at work. Went off in front of my Div"O" in front of entire division. Not a wise career move in today's Navy. Ha! Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knows how this ties in with SSDI. My major VA contentions are mostly Mental (PTSD/Anxiety/Depression, etc...) with some other issues thrown in. Bad knee(2 surgeries, with residuals), hearing loss, tinnitus, back/neck/cervical spine conditions, shoulder, elbow pain, stomach conditions(Bleeding)etc...I feel fairly confident that I'll do okay with the VA. I guess I have to stick it out at work until after I hear back on a decision from the VA and then can I apply for SSDI? Will the fact that I am working now hurt me when I do apply for SSDI. I really need to wait until after I (Hopefully) start getting a check from the VA to allow me freedom to possibly go back to school and use some of the VOCED benefits I qualify for. I can't even talk to my therapist or go to the SS office right now because my probationary period at work. Can only miss 4 days(And by the way, anything over 1 hour counts as a day, m-f/8-5) in the first 6 months or they show you the door. No excuses. Period. That is a no-shitter! Anyway folks, sorry for the long post, just felt like talking, I guess. If anyone makes it all the way through, I'm just looking for any advice on SSDI filing. Also, wondering how much SSDI pays. Thanks.
