All medicare supplement plans, called medigap, are standardized in what they cover by federal regulation. Plan A covers the same items regardless of the insurance company offering it. Each standardized Medigap policy must cover certain benefits. Medigap Plans C through G have one set of basic benefits, and Plans A, B, K, L, M and N have a different set of basic benefits. Each state determines which plans can be offered in their state.


Plans are normally priced three different ways and you should be aware of what method a policy uses when comparing prices.

Community-rated means the same monthly premium is charged to everyone who has the Medigap policy, regardless of age. Premiums are the same no matter how old you are. Premiums may go up because of inflation etc but will go up equally for everyone.
Issue-Age-Rated Policies means the premium is based on the age you are when you first buy (are "issued") the Medigap policy and won’t change just because you get older. Premiums may go up for inflation etc.
Attained-Age-Rated Policies means the premium is based on your current age (the age you have "attained") so your premium goes up as you get older.

No Medicare supplement (Medigap)policy will cover dental. Some Medicare Advantage plans ( that replace your original  Medicare with private insurance) may. Aetna apears to offer a dental option at additional cost to some of it's advantage plans.
