Thanks Old Medic for your help. He got sc connected for peripheral neuropathy secondary to diabetes. If I had sent that claim in with the carpal tunnel (as a neuropathy claim), he would have been
denied. I get it, a statement of why a claim is being filed for a rateable condition should be stated in a clear manner-I attached the summary page of the VA EMG and the nerve conduction
test with the medical opinion plus a letter from his private physician with a diagnosis (med. tests) and nexus - 3 short pages in total. He has both conditions - carpal tunnel and neuropathy but C & P examiner opined that carpal tunnel (moderate) is not connected - didn't pursue it. Now it's down to me helping him to do what he can to control diabetes with diet, and meds. Don't know what to do about exercise as he has leg pain.
I want to do whatever I can to delay any worsening of his health. He is good about diet and meds but exercise is a problem. We are participating in the diabetes ed. classes at the VA
and hoping for no more progression.
