Hi all... I know I have some dumb questions but with fibrofog sometimes I need things explained to me at a simple level. Sorry.
I noticed on the Diabetes DBQ it actually has check boxes for more than DMII. Why is there a check box for impaired fasting glucose or other? Other says for DM or complications.
I know they don't rate IFG so why list it?
My problem is that I already have 3 complications that usually are from diabetes: foot/lower leg peripheral sensory neuropathy bilateral, dumping symptom and slow gastric emptying. So far my highest FBS is 125. I get random glucose readings at home of up to 147. ( my husband is diabetic so I use his meter). I start getting very dizzy at about 130 up. My civilian GI MD who did the testing for the dumping syndrome told me I have diabetes even if my lab tests don't show it.
I know VA goes by the lab tests for a DM rating.
My question is that since I am rated as 0% for reactive hypoglycemia since I had a bad time with that on active duty am I able to ask for increase in rating because I now have impaired fasting glucose? and complications? Or am I out of luck until I actually get the diagnosis of DMII? My civilian PCP has sent a consult to an endocrinologist for a workup since I know I could have some other related condition.
My reactive hypoglycemia and hypoglycemia has continued to be a problem over the years until I gained lots of weight working a very stressful 3rd shift for 10 years (after discharge) and now I find my glucose #s stay above 110.
I have found a medical article on hypoglycemia that says reactive hypoglycemia may frequently be a precursor to DMII.
Everything I have read says the VA requires a diagnosis of DMII for a rating but what if it is some other related condition?
Thanks! BTW I am not planning on filing any more claims since I am 100% IU P and T. The only reason I ever would file would be to ensure my hubby gets DIC if I die because of DMII in about 50 years or so..... THINK POSITIVE! I have great faith in future stem cells treatments! LOL
( I do know I need to get skinny again)
