Posts: 180 Aug 13 12 9:16 AM	Tags : None Has anyone been involved in "Prolonged Exposure Therapy"? My psychologist has me changing from one visit a month to one a week to go thru this therapy. I'm just wondering what all it entails. Scheduled for first visit around the end of the month.

Posts: 976 Aug 13 12 7:25 PM	Dan6135, I went thru prolong exposure therapy for almost 5 months.......no luck for me. I started out once a week, then twice a week, then 3 times a week. My therapist said I was a tough cookie. But I am in another program now, and if that doesn't help, I might have to go back into a inpatient program. Good luck to you though!! You will just talk about your trauma over and over.........then record your sessions for homework, etc.

Posts: 1441 Aug 16 12 12:25 PM	I have been through a lot of PTSD Tests and treatment programs and the treatment that has worked the best for me is medication. I have gone to hypno-group-one on one-exposure-aroma-hug-primordial scream-reenactment theropies and even tried medetation, accupuncture/accupressure, illegal drugs, and alcohol. None of these helped and some made situations worse. What helped me the most was 1. getting to actually sleepmore than 2 hours a night & 2. sleeping without dreaming. It's amazing how much better the world looks when seen through eyes that have had a good nights sleep. Everyone has a theropy du jour. The trick is to try them all and see what works best for you. I have not been this happy with life since the early 1980's.... Best of luck in whatever you do. Doc
