Posts: 67 Aug 7 12 3:12 PM	Tags : None Call Prosthetic today Ask about my clothing allowance.I have a pending claim for my right knee have a brace for the knee already They said if not SC Won't get it. I told them I have claim on the knee since Nov 2011 I ask once my knee is approve SC can i appeal they said NO

Posts: 540 Aug 7 12 3:30 PM	that is right you have to be able to show that you SC for the need of your brace. That do not mean that you can not be back payed I got my 1st CA in the middle of the year. I would just talk to your Prosthetics dept about it when you get you SC Beez

Posts: 4378 Aug 7 12 11:45 PM	Not only that, but you cannot file for the clothing allowance the first year you get service connection. Granted Service connection 11/2008 from claim submitted 6/2008/ Could not get a clothing allowance until 2010. With the new change I AM NOT 100% SURE, but that was the old rule. Search for the VA Clothing Allowance Handbook, and then the instruction# also. The claim form may also have that information. VA Form 10-8678, and that is the latest and greatest version.

Posts: 353 Aug 8 12 8:06 AM	I don't know about the reg's, but I got my first clothing allowance 10 months after my SC award. I did get 8 years back pay on the SC award if that was the difference. Got my SC award in Oct. 2010 and received my first clothing allowance in Aug. 2011 20% DDD 20% Right Lumbar Radiculopathy 30% Anxiety Disorder 60% Combined Edited 1 time by ibjammin Aug 8 12 8:08 AM.

Posts: 540 Aug 9 12 6:56 PM	I as well am not sure about the 1st year hold back a vet I helped last year got his CA in the 1st year and is looking foward to getting it for both knees this year so the best thing to do is call ask lot of questions make sure you feel good about what is going on with your file then sit back and get payed Beez
