Donna wrote: We have guidelines, and do not close a thread on a whim. Generally threads stay open longer than sometimes they should , especially when others are pressing the envelope. Remember no politics, religion, disrespect of race or gender, pissing contests to a minimum, and then there should be no problem. I like a healthy debate just as much as the next person, as long as it is productive. We are here to help veterans, and that is what is all about, right? I even have my own bad points about VBN, it is freaking addicting, and I spend far too much time on here, but I like it.Thank you all for your serviceDonnaResponding to your first sentence, Donna—although threads are not closed on a whim, they are closed by two administrators (one, especially) if the threads even remotely disagree with their ideologies. As long as a thread progresses with the bias leaning in their direction, it stays open. The moment someone posts an opposing view—whammo! it's closed.

If memory serves me, some years ago, I do believe there is one current admin that once said that if his 12 year old son shouldn’t read it, it should not be posted. He has indeed did a 180 degree turn on that one. Thank goodness.

OK Dean, you are a man amongst men. For curiosity sake how old is the young man now and how is he doing? I don’t think we are R rated but most definitely PG, lol.

Just jogging the old memory of VBN past.. Congratulations to you and your son and family. I hope you spent ample time away from the VBN for celebrations. Your judgment and guidance here is appreciated.

Some things get a bit harsh yet I would like to see some of them contiue as I find myself still learning quite a bit through others points of view. Remember the old saying "Not a truer thing is said than said in jest".As far as folks getting their feelings hurt... I don't care to see or hear that, but to be offended is ones choice. It is not like a jacket that handed to someone to wear. However, at 44 years old, I have been called worse and treated worse by people that swore they love me....I know I am not alone in that! So keep that little tidbit in mind.
