Posts: 15 Aug 2 12 8:45 PM	Tags : None Hi Everyone , New to this but have a question? I've been diagnosed with PTSD by VA docs as well as my private physc. I asked the latter to fill out a DBQ and she did. I already have PTSD but have not had an comp. and pension exam. My question is should I send in the DBQ ou should I wait until I have a c and p exam? Thanks everyone By all means, send in the DBQ form ASAP...it could get quick approval and you may avoid the long wait for a C&P!! What have yo got to lose??? Fillean meal ar an meallaire.

Posts: 707 Aug 5 12 4:29 PM	Diagnosis of initial PTSD for compensation purposes cannot be done by an outside Doctor only the VA. The RO will consider the DBQ as medical evidence but you will still need a C&P exam before they will grant service connection for PTSD. So you are still in for a wait.

Posts: 15 Aug 5 12 5:31 PM	Shelley7, thanks for your response. I have been diagnosed initially by a VA physciatrist then went to private physciatrist an she not only diagnosed me, but gave me a complete DBQ. Will I still need to be diagnosed by c and p examiner ?

Posts: 729 Aug 5 12 8:20 PM	Tontev trust me Shelly7 know's exactly what she is talking about. Shelly7 wife was just rated 70% for PTSD/MST. VA Psyc wrote letter that she is unemployable, completed a DBQ/PTSD, and RFC Mental to support increase. Should this avoid another C&P Exam for her? JK - Vets Husband Air Force 2002 - 2005 Medically Discharged 100% P&T - PTSD/MST 0% Bulimia SSDI Pending Edited 1 time by vethusband41 Aug 5 12 10:48 PM.

Vet, that is the theory, the DBQ is only supposed to be used for a request for increase but we have seen people still having to go tot a C&P so it is just a big guess.
