Have a claim pending for SC connected disabilities including severe loss of hearing in both ears. Establishing 'service connection' is probably the biggest hurdle to clear. I am wondering if it is usually helpful to submit older hearing test results and notes dating back almost two decades. One questionnaire back in 2002 shows that a 'head injury occurred in the military back in 1969' when hearing loss started. It was clearly noted on that hearing examiner's form that his hearing loss began in 1969. In other words, those records point to service connection.
That questionnaire form also establishes that he answered 'Yes' to all of the questions regarding difficulties hearing in different situations and scored a 100% in hearing loss.
Would such older records be helpful to support a Veteran's claim or would they be regarded as just self-serving documents?
Do not want to muddy up the water on this claim and don't want to give the RO more than what is necessary to make a proper and fair service connection finding.

I have still not received copies of military service records including military medical records despite having made two (2) separate requests for them to the Military Service Personnel Records archives in St. Louis, Missouri.
