Vietnam Infantry Vet, currently 60%IHD, 30%PTSD and 10% Tinntinitus. Just recieved denial of perifpheral neuropathy of right arm due to: 1. The evidence does not show an event, disease or injurty in service. and 2. The evidence does not show that your disease developed to a compensable degree within the specified time frame after relese from service to qualify for presumption of service connection. I made numerous requests for medical records in past two years all with nothing found. HOWEVER, after recieving denial I requested all my records from regional office in Detroit and lo and behold, in the huge pile of records, 16th Med Unit record of my having spent 5 days in a field hospital for Cellulittis w/severe swelling, fever, etc of right arm. Arm was lanced to drain puss/reduce swelling etc. Supporting what I had said for years. As to second issue, I went to Ann Arbor VA hospital my first year home (in 1968), because of burning sensation etc that continued in the arm. Requested records of this visit in 1984 (have request and their response ie couldn't find record of visit). Still say they can't locate. My question based upon I now have proof of incident in Nam but only prima face proof of follow up in 68 (ie my sworn testifmony and fact I did request documents 28 years ago - why would I do that if it didn't exist! I would note that I have seen allergists and dermatologists since 68 but the older records I can't obtain. Is pursueing this worth the effort?
