Posts: 35 Jan 21 12 7:43 AM	Tags : None Hi folks. My claim just moved to Pending Decision Approval on eBennefits. Great to see progress. But, when checking the letter downloads, all my letters are missing (except for Service Verification). Also, my current 80% rating is missing from Benefits Explorer. It has been replaced with "Select Rating". My guess is that they are being updated with whatever is reflected in the proposed decision. But, it seems strange that my current rating and letters would just disappear, without being replaced with a new rating. Anyone else have this happen?

Posts: 117 Jan 21 12 8:09 AM	Same thig happened to me on 1/13/12 went to prep for notification, could not get into letter generator and benefits showed me at 0%, on 1/17/12 it went to complete and I was able to get back into everything and was very happy to see my new rating. This is at St Pete RO. Tom

Posts: 35 Jan 21 12 8:22 AM	It just occurred to me that this probably means that my claim was approved. If it was denied, there would not be any reason to change/update my letters. Is that a reasonable assumption?

I got excited because my claim progressed to Pending Decision Approval, and the letters and rating disappeared at the same time.

When your claim is being rated and goes into the decision approval "stage" your AB8 is pulled from ebenefits and your benefits explorer changes to a drop down menu with select rating rather than showing your current rating. The only letter y'all should have in your letter generator is your AB7 (Statement of Service). Your ebenefits will remain this way as your claim status is moved to the Preparation for Notification phase. Once the claim is closed, your new AB8 along with any other pertinent letters will be posted in your letter generator. Once the letters reappear, you should get your brown envelope in typical mail time. The decision approval stage can take awhile to complete and at any time it's possible that your claim can move to have something else done to it so it can move to another stage. Just because there's an order to the process on ebenefits doesn't mean that your claim follows a direct path. It's normal for it to move back and forth. I've looked into this for the past 3-4 months and verified it all through my VARO (Waco, TX), IRIS and Peggy. You're all getting closer to knowing the outcome of your claims. Good luck! Steve

It has unknown???? Shouldn't all of my enlistments me listed there? Shouldn't the branch of service be right. Do I need to change this? That means VA doesn't have or hasn't input your correct service information. I'd carry my rear end to the VARO and stand on someone's desk until that was fixed if it were me. You might be able to handle it through IRIS and might try that first if your VARO isn't close enough to visit. Good thing you checked. Noticed the same thing for mine early in my claim. I submitted a VA Form 21-4138 Statement in Support of Claim identifying the discrepancy along with all my DD 214's and my discharge retirement letter. About a month later Ebenefits reflected on my current claim "21-4138 Statement in support of claim, DD 214, DD 214 and letter DC" and when I checked the Letter Generator all my DD-214's had been entered. This can also be done by a VSO, DAV or other REP or just going to VARO... not sure I would trust the mail for this.. just saying... Also to the OP... Just checked mine too.. my claim is at the same stage and the letter generator is doing the same for me. I spoke to my DAV Rep at the Portland VARO and he said "my claim moved on the 13th and I should know by the end of the month... if it does not go back to needing more evidence" Nice to have a DAV Rep at the VARO with a computer tied into them... Everytime I log into ebenefits, I click on Access My Documents, Click on Download VA Letters, and click on the VB8 form, and it does nothing?? My initial claim was done back in 2010. Posts: 11 Jul 16 12 2:15 PM	All I can see is the status bar. Although, I have been pretty fortunate. It seems like things have been moving pretty quickly. It averages between 5 days and 2 weeks per stage of the status. This morning my status changed to Pending Decision Approval. The longest wait for me was Gathering of Evidence which was 3 months, and that was my fault, because I could nt schedule my C&P until my schedule would allow me to schedule the C&P. Posts: 3 Jul 17 12 12:39 PM	I see alot of people comminting that they have been waiting I have been waiting for 16 1/2 months for my initial claim to be processed out of winston-salem. My claim sat in perparation for decision for 79 days. and it just went to the next phase of pending decision approval I am told that this could take 1 or 2 months and move foward or it could be sent back into the process. So all I can say is hang in there. I do hope that vets with physical disibilities like loss of limbs or eye sight are moved along quicker. what does bug me is that I meet disabled VETS with just a few years in the Military never seen combat and getting 80% or more because they hurt thier knee while running in formation. Posts: 11 Jul 18 12 2:20 PM	What bugs me is that I have been arguing with the VA for 3 years about my back. I have a permanent profile from the Army which restricts me from lifting more than 10 lbs. I can't work, and the VA has rated it for 10% while I know a few other guys who have back aches who get 40% for their backs. Also, due to my hypertension, my BP goes to stroke level periodically (210/140) I finally got sent to Preparation for Notification. During all that time, I could not see any letters generated. This morning, I got a Letter of Eligibility for VA Home Loan. Then, I was able to see the AB8 at the same 60% rate I am getting right now. Then, two hours later, I went to print the documents, and the server was down (500 - Internal Server Error). I taking it they were updating the system? Now, I cant see any of those letters anymore... Neither my AB8 or AB7 Nor my 10 point or civil service prference. Should I take it that the 60% letter which showed was from the old rating, and a new rating is going to be posted? Or, should I plan on filing a new appeal? Everything is still sitting at Preparation for Notification Eric

Yet, I dont see them getting locked in bed in pain every other week and not able to either move or roll over in bed, Then having to have a family member take them into the VA emergency room to get shots in their back to relieve the pain so they can at least creep around on a cane. Posts: 3 Jul 18 12 4:21 PM	I was hoping that by being on this site I would gain a greater understanding on the whole V.A. system. My claim just moved into the pending approval phase. This is my first claim because I retired 1 April 2011. I do not know what the perpose of the letters that every one is talking about or even what to do with them. I do see the AB7 but that does not say any more than what my dd 214 just the short version. I also wonder if those letters really mean any thing coming from the V.A.. My big problem is that every jod interview I go on asks me about my military service which is fine and they just ask out of intrest what my V.A. % is it kind of enbarasses me that after 16 months I can not tell them anything. Almost imediatly after my explaination they make suggestions for me to call some one or to write a letter or go down to speak to some one they know that can help me. I tell them that there is no one or nothing that I can do to speed up the process. Some people even call a friend of a friend of some one they know that can fix this so seeing all these questions about additional ratings and appeals and the such really confusses me. Oh I retired with 20 pluss years 3 deployments to Bosnia and 3 deployments to Iraq as a combat engineer so you can imagine I had a rough life but I was good at it any help would be great.
