Posts: 180 Jul 10 12 9:45 AM	My IU claim has been in a Prep for Decision phase for what seems like forever. When it first hit that stage, I was told it would be completed in about 114 days (NYC Regional Office timeframe). It was about 2 weeks overdue and I decided to check with the 1000 folks today to ascertain the status. I was told that my claim was moved from NYC to Ranoke, VA in June (even though I live and filed my claim in NYC). Anyone out there have had any dealings with Roanoke in the past and can give me an about time for this process to finally end? I guess this is just another way for the VA to screw us out of actual completion times. I had made an appointment with the NYC VA Regional office in early June to physically review my claims package during the 3d week of July. Guess I got screwed again!!!

Posts: 8035 Jul 10 12 9:49 AM	It is simply manpower management. That's a good thing for you. I'd like to see mine farmed out to Lincoln, NE. That's happened to me before. It went quickly and favorably.

I called the 1000 number again and asked what my new process time was going to be in Roanoke and I was told that it will take at least another 120 days. Another 4 months!!!!! I guess when it gets to the 120 day window in Roanoke, they will manpower manage it back to New York for another 120 days. The system actually sucks!!!

Posts: 8035 Jul 10 12 10:05 AM	Processing times are bad for everyone, everywhere. I wonder if the 120 day quote is just standard issue to get you off the line. I'll bet that if you fire off an IRIS, you will get better info. It does take a bit longer though.

Posts: 180 Jul 10 12 2:38 PM	If you mean call the 1000 number and ask them to file an inquirery (fire off an IRIS), forget about it. In 10 years of dealing with the 1000 number I have asked for dozens of inquiries and I think I only received one reply (about 3 months later) and that was a form letter telling me that my claim was being processed.In fact, that reply that they claimed was being processed was already finalized over a month before I received the inquirery latter. The VA is completely useless when it comes to processing the individual claims and are even more useless when the vet who submitted the claim asks for a simple followup. And please, please do not tell me how over burdened this multi-billion dollar failure of a federal department is. I already spent my hour today in the bathroom throwing up from my meds.
