Cruiser, you need to lead by example. Take the high road, not the bait.  As an administrator you could, and should, have nipped this in the bud early on. There are plenty of other Vets here that could benefit from your insight.

Slamming the staff or attempting to moderate (when you aren't a moderator or admin) a thread is contrary to the banner on the home page.

Not slamming anyone. Just calling foul. As you pointed out, the banner is fairly explicit and should be enforced. True?
