Call the 1-800-273-8255 and press 1. Stay on the phone with them while driving to the ER and until you get checked in. PLEASE! Sometimes, when the world just seems like you wanna kill yourself, in fact it's the meds talking. Call the Helpline number and go to the nearest ER. Let them take you in, so you doctor can adjust your medicines. Think of your kid! Don't let a kids grow up with no father at all. It's just meds, that's all. OR call 911, let them take you in. Then have the doc adjust your meds. Posts: 252 Jun 27 12 5:14 PM	atgy, I hope you are safe & that you called 911 or the crisis line! If you haven't done so yet, please do it now! You know from past experience that they can & will help. There are people who can & do understand! Many have gone thru or still are going thru, stuff like you are. It may not be exactly the same, but I bet it'd be pretty close & some of it might even be worse! Not just here on VBN, but also at Vet Centers & VA clinics in all areas of the country. You need to keep thinking of your son & the man that he's going to grow up to be. It is not going to be better for him if you're not around! He needs you & he needs for you to get well. You have to be be strong for him & get into an inpatient treatment program for a while. This will give the docs a chance to find that right combination of meds for you, so that you don't have these feelings anymore. Prayers have been said for you, atgy. Are you hashing out one specific type of plan over and over in your mind or have you considered different ways of it for now ? Where is your son ? Is he there with you ? How young is he ? Will he be the one to find you ? He would probably spend many moments of his life wondering all the what's and why's, lost, maybe even feel like he must of been at least part of the reason for your actions. In my opinion - he's lucky to have a father - I know, life sucks when there's no relationship and connection with a father in your life. A father is not without flaws and does not need - nor have to be perfect. They just need to be there, keep their kid safe, fed and give them some hugs. It does not take a whole lot of energy - just being there is the most important thing. Whatever it is your going through for right now in your life - you can and will get past much of this - life will come into balance for you again. You might not never, feel this balance each and every day - it comes in spurts. For me - it started with waking up - to find out it was winter. I have no recollection of the prior seasons that year. But little by little - I came back to living my life. This can happen to you too, get help every time you need it and be here - if for no one else - other than your son.

He sounds caring in his post - for his son - like he could be a pretty good dad. But he has to hang in here - to do this.

My second attempt was just like what you are going through I drank radiator fluid by the glass full wanting to die so badly just to end it all but right after I had drank it an thousand voices I could hear were telling me to throw it up and that there is help. At the time I was so badly trying to fight it off wanting to die an thought randomly popped into my head and all I could think about is how much I love pie and how that as crazy as it might sound pumpkin pie saved my life or I would of sat there and not thrown up the amount I drank which would of killed me for sure. Please call 911 right now and tell them to get you to the VA ASAP. The VA will help you even though you may think at the moment there is no hope. Please change your mind people do care and want to help please think of this and the stuff you love to overcome an temporary problem. Nothing bad will come out of calling 911 for help cause there are an bunch of people who have been or are in your shoes right now going through the same thing. Don't do it period and call 911 right now.

I did see last night, that he was online during the time I was posting, but then he was gone so I didn't have a chance to try pm'ing him. But that was good since it was almost 2 hours after his post. I think all we can do now is pray & wait to see if he posts again, though as I said, hopefully he's an inpatient & getting help so it may be a while.

I hope you will keep up with seeing the docs at the VA & that you will let them know as soon as possible if the meds don't seem to be working & doing what they're supposed to. Also be sure you don't hold anything back when you talk to the docs. Let them know about everything going on in your life. If you don't already know this, there are social workers at the VA too, that should be able to help you with other programs, like for housing & food. Ask to see one if you haven't already. And if you don't have a VSO / rep, helping you with your claim, you should also get one. They often know of other ways & programs to help a vet, besides just helping with a claim.
