Hello brothers and sisters,
Quick question- I received the DFAS Retired Roll pay notification. It reads what I will be receiving on my first retired pay period which is 01AUG12 (Retired 03JUN12)
Anyways, the amount looked off but didn't sweat it because it was three days short of a full month. However, when I was reading over how they came to the amount that I will be receiving each month it shows how they came to their conclusion, Method A vs Method B. The trouble is that the base amount they are using in the calculations is incorrect.
They show my years of service correctly for Basic Pay, but the active duty base pay in their calculations is $3,493.75 whereas it should be $3,589.80 (E6 over 20). That is off by $96.05. I know it's not much but it is almost $1, 200.00 over a year. The only deduction is for SBP of $159.10 but that is a moot issue because that is after the fact.
I double checked what base pay is currently which is $3,589.80 (E6 over 20). The amount that they are using, $3,493.75, I can't find anywhere in the E6 row.
I am afraid to call for a correction because it has been my experience in the past that when you call for a $50 discrepancy you can end up missing a pay period.
Anyone know what this is about?
