When I applied for SSDI ont of the first things I received from them was a Credits Letter describing that I met the credits requirement for SSDI and if I became disabled right now I would receive $x,xxx,xx . I then goes on to say 'You and your eligible family members could get up to a monthly total of $x,xxx.xx per month.
Does that mean that me by-myself would be eligible for the first amount but if I had a wife and kids then the amount would be the higher second figure?
I don't understand what that means. Surely it does not mean that they would pay me the first amount and pay the second amount to my wife and kids at the same time.
