Posts: 23 Jun 15 12 5:43 PM	Tags : None Haven't received my "Official Notification" (Brown Envelope), but eBenefits already has my new award letter posted and after 17 months of waiting I am 100% P&T with SMC (S)! A long and grueling process with many emotional roller coasters, but well worth the wait as everyone is fully aware of. Thanks to my Brothers in Arms on this website for giving me great guidance, untold information, and support when I was about to go postal. Now all I have to do is find a lung donor........ Mine was filed October 2010...like you said it has been a rollor coaster ride....but as my favorite saying has been working through the vA process....patience is a virtue. Good luck in finding a donor shipmate! I am ESWS qualified, shellback also. Mtnman 46 CWO2

I retired in Oct 09 after 27 due to my health, couldn't clear for "World Wide Deployability".....lol Was a huge relief to see the new letter in eBenefits, just waiting on the envelope and the DD in my account!! Posts: 47 Jun 16 12 10:48 AM	I retired in December 1993 after I was found unfit for seaduty due to bi-lateral injuries. Like you I have had many deployments...3-middle east cruises, 3 tours in Antarctica with Operation Deep Freeze, 1 year on the rock (Diego Garcia), 1 year in Puerto Rico. Lots of traveling and time away from the family. I was very happy how the Navy took care of me and my family, and now the VA is doing the follow-up for us. I have a little grandson...my first and he is my world right now. I get to babysit him about 3 days a week for my daughter and its the best of the best! One year old...full of piss and vinegere and he loves his grandpa. Once again good luck to you and you family and it will be a happy day for me when my brown envelope arrives also

Posts: 23 Jun 16 12 1:25 PM	Cavtrooper088 a Shellback is a Sailor or Marine who crossed the Equator at some point around the earth, and presented himself or herself in front of King Neptune and his Court for trail hearing and initiation. It's called a "Crossing the Line" ceremony. Usually on aircraft carriers we combine this with a beer day, bar-b-que on the flight deck, and swim call while deployed...... Posts: 696 Jun 19 12 1:44 PM	well hell having crossed over the equator 4 or 5 times in the army usallly in a plane, the only thing i received was ahard time, shot at, and a 100 %CHECK from VA and a full retiremnet check from the mililtary, guess i could say i got dollors and cents award!!! lol

Paid me IU Retro all the way back to when I retired in Oct 2009, and up to when I submitted my last claim in Feb 2011, then 100% P&T SMC (S) from then on. Looking at a nice Retro check coming in!!! Glad this much is over, still have some contentions to settle, but I am where I wanted to be....
