SEVERANCE PAY QUESTION?

Posts: 3 Jun 13 12 8:51 PM	I am currenlty going through a PEB review. Based on my medical conditions, I am expecting a medical discharge. I would like to know if members are given the option to waive severance pay. If given the option, it seems more practical to just receive the monthly VA comp rather than have a lump sum amount that I will need to slowly repay before my VA benefits would kick in. I just feel like the month to month would help me get by better than blowing through a lump some on bills, etc... Does anyone know if you are even given the option to waive this? I appreciate you time and thoughts on this

Posts: 14 Jun 29 12 2:20 AM	1. if combat related you don't repay it. 2. if you are rated unfit 0% by DoD, you repay nothing. 3. The VA will only recoup the monthly amount for your unfitting condition at that percentage. Example......PEB says unfit 10% for your back. VA rated your back at 10%, but total VA rating of 100%. You will still receive a monthly check from the VA, they will recoup the 10% at $127 a month, but you receive the rest monthly. It might take them 100 years to recoup it, so don't turn down the severance.
