Posts: 2787 Jun 8 12 11:07 PM	They should do a "finger wave" or rectal finger examine first. That may reveal something and may not. They will do more tests either way. The testing will be done on why they think your PSA is elevated. At this point ask them why they think your PSA is elevated. There are several reasons for elevaed PSA. I know your worried about it being cancer but could be infection like prostatis. Even sex can elevate a PSA. So wait and see. Then we can go from there. The important then is that you found out it was elevated and that is only a screening test at this point. What was the number on your PSA?

Posts: 1106 Jul 17 12 7:55 AM	VA Form 21-526 should be completed and submitted along with statements from your doctor (and the pathology report) that prove you have cancer. I submitted my claim electronically, but I think most are submitted through the mail. You should submit your application as soon as you have the evidence. Recommend you also have a Veterans Service Officer from the VFW, American Legion, DAV, etc., assist you. Ron http://www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/vba-21-526-are.pdf edited to add: I am assuming you served in Vietnam. You should also submit your DD 214s and a copy of your personnel record if you have it. I recommend you request a copy of your personnel file (free) if you do not have a copy at this time. Posts: 2787 Aug 9 12 8:22 AM	Hopefully it will be negative and you will have no reason to file a claim. Yes, it does seem to slow down an orginal claim if you put in another claim on top of it. File your claim. Submit a copy of your urology report. Active Surveillance is considered treatment. Your compensation begins at the date of filing.. You will be compensated at 100% until your problem is resolved. Good luck.
