Has any retiree received all their retro after DFAS audit this year?

Posts: 226 May 14 12 11:42 PM	Well, dang, so much for me waiting till the new fiscal year theory :-) I just checked my bank account and the rest of my retro hit today which makes it about 25 days after the DFAS audit was returned. Coincidence that my IRIS response came the same day? Dunno but I had checked Ebennies yesterday and it didn't show it pending under "VA Payment History" but now it does (and it's paid). Ah well, I feel kind of sad now because I have no more battles to fight with the VA. Hmmm, what am I gonna do with my time now? Haha, I'm just being stupid. Actually, my next battle is with SSDI as I have my Wounded Warrior claim in with them since 17 April. So I guess I proved that retros are being worked and I do feel 25 days is quite acceptable given their workload. Cheers to all here in this thread for their thoughts and inputs... CRDP is not a VA program, it's a DoD program and DoD runs the show. In some cases the retro amount, or a portion of it, is paid by DoD instead of VA. At the end of the dayTreasury pays whatever compensation VA authorizes no matter how much it is and without regard for the amount that Congress appropriated. VA Disability Compensation is an entitlement program that isn't tied to VA's budget in any way. In other words, VA has a finite amount of money to pay for salaries and operating costs that it cannot go over; however, the amount that is actually paid out in compensation to veterans is not limited in any way. While Congress may estimate the cost of the compensation to pay for the new Agent Orange presumptive conditions, if VA awards exceed that estimate Treasury just keeps on paying. Cruiser

I did receive a small deposit, Deposit - DFAS-CLEVELAND RETSPCL although I have not received a letter from them yet. I am still hoping that this means they will be sending the audit to WS for the retro pay. Have a great day Donna

Posts: 1106 May 15 12 6:25 AM	Donna, You should have a new RAS on MyPay for the special payment you received. If I remember correctly, within the RAS section there is a drop down menu for different RAS periods. I received one for a special payment back in March--$30 or so. Ron

First CRDP payment: Dec 2011 DFAS audit completed: 19 Dec 2011 VA Retro: Sent two request of Status via VA 800# with same answer "My claim will be processed in turn" Why are some claims processed at same RO are processed faster than my claim, it conflicts with the "processed in turn" answer? When the audit is done, doesn't the next step is to pay the retro to the VET? Why some are getting their Retro before others? Inconsistantly and timelessness is what pisses me off with this whole claim process.

Posts: 54 May 15 12 9:02 AM	I just got off the phone with VA 800# and the lady said, it will be at average 226 days to process your retro claim. I ask from date of the claim initiated or from the audit date and she said at advange at the time of the audit and your case will be processed in turn with the Vet's cases. Again, why is Vets receiving their Retro checks, at the same VA Center, than the ones who processed their claims prior to them? Oh, my status is still at the development stages. To get my Retro or any of my claims done, is there a special dope deal that I have to make with a VA Rep to get things going??? Grrrr!

Have a great day Donna Donna, yes DIRECT DEPOSIT DFAS-CLEVELA RETSPCL is your DFAS retro but DFAS won't send you any letter (breakdown of the audit) unless you call them and ask for it. I didn't receive a letter from them either last month when my DFAS retro got paid early April so I called them about three weeks later asking them about a letter and they said they don't mail anything unless specifically requested. But it looks like you're now rolling along since your audit is done and should be sent to VA on the 18th this month. Then you will be in the holding pattern I was in.... So, I ask again: I will ask the Cruis' one question..... what would you do if you were the head cheese to fix the backlog (all of it) to the disabled service folks? The answer I am looking for is from what the head cheese at the VA would/could do? PS. The Arkansas head cheese of the VA was asked to resign immediately and did due to serious "process fraud" under his watch. Seems there is alot of money missing and they do not have it to pay the retro to disabled folks over 70% disabled...... according to you Cruiser, the Treasury should just send them the money................. I know your answer to this VA fraud is to narrow it down to a process error by some office somewhere in the bowels of VA, I just see that the veterans in question are owed $64K each and no retro seems to be forthcoming,,,,, guess they will have to file a new claim and go to the back of the line,,,,, isn't that how the "process" works Cruis?????????????? dirtbag

Dec 2007, Retired & received initial VA disability rating of 10% Mar 2010, Filed for disability increase Oct 2010, C&P Dec 2010, Rating raised to 60% backdated to Mar 2010. Received retro all in one shot in about a week (the good old days I guess) Jan 2011, Nod'd the increase to 60% coz the wording the doc used in the C&P matched 100% schedular, not just 60%. Also filed for IU while I was at it since it was a singular 60% Oct 2011, C&P 20 Mar 2012, Awarded singular 100% schedular P&T backdated to Mar 2010. Received 45% of the VA retro about a week later. VA sent audit request to DFAS Apr 2012, DFAS completed audit, received DFAS retro & audit sent back to VA on the 18th 15 May 2012, Received the remaining 55% of the VA retro All done I guess. I may or may not shortly send a letter to VA asking them to remove the one claim I still have in the system since Mar 2010 (depression). Only leaving it open for now since I just filed for SSDI last month and I used depression & anxiety as one of my medical issues

I did file with the VA exactly six months before retirement (that was the soonest I could file) and even if it was some sort of accelerated program I highly highly doubt that that would have carried over five years later and three rating decisions later ;-) (oh and a different VARO too, one not even in the U.S)

That was the head of the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs, a State agency; not the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. VA compensation isn't paid by the various State's veterans affairs agencies. Just how clueless can one person be? If you want to know the truth, I don't think anybody who claims to have been a commissioned officer in the military is as dumb as you are coming across in some of these things that you are saying. I'm beginning to think that you are saying this idiotic stuff to get attention. If you really are that dumb, then I apologize to you; but either way you need to either get your facts straight or shut up. You are not going to continue posting this nonsense.
