Posts: 96 May 8 12 7:45 PM	Tags : claim I have filled claims for sleeping disorder, chronic bhroncitics, abnormal heart, and left knee pain i have medical doccuments relating me to these claims back to the service 2009-2010 but do not have any dignosis from a va medical facilities? I believe i am getting scheduled for exam soon My person doctor told me i actually have PTSD but i claimed it as sleeping disorder since i wasnt aware of it? Does these things will effect my claim decessions? i do have medical evidences from the service and after i got seperated ???

You do not need to be diagnosed from VA to qualify for benefits however VA will certainly schedule a C&P exam from their facilities for any such claim you will be filing for. I would however bring any Drs. notes and any records you may have from private Drs or hospitals with you to the C&P exam. It will only bolster your claim. I wish you luck !!

If your medical records are adequate, with all of the appropriate tests; medical evidence, etc.; the VA may not schedule a C&P exam. It is NOT mandatory. Submit any such records to the VA, and do not bring them to a C&P exam. The doctor that does a C&P is NOT required to review any records that you bring in, and many of them will not. Those records must be submitted to the VA, or they simply will not count. A C&P examiner can not base their evaluation on evidence that has not been submitted to the VA. Posts: 107 May 9 12 12:57 PM	I agree with submitting all the evidence for certain. But I did bring my medical record with me for my C&P. The doctor referenced it many times. I understand that they usually dont. As a matter of fact my C&P examiner said that she wished the raters would provide them with access to the records. The raters seem to not want the examiners to have them. But I brought mine and she did use them. One example is that I claimed gout. She went straight to the blood work to look at my uric acid level. I feel confident that this did nothing but help me. If not records then its just a he said she ask kind of thing. I would bring them and if they dont want to see them, oh well. But if you dont bring them and they do want to look then you are SOL. Just my opinion from past experience. "FLY COAST GUARD"

Posts: 4378 May 9 12 11:45 PM	I have brought records to every C&P exam I have had, and they always make copies (even when they tell me they don't have the resources to make copies of your records so don't bring them) The making copies part hasn't always helped because they have copied records from other examiners over several years and then explained how that within a 15-20 minute exam they know more about my medical condition than the multiple doctors who have been treating me. My first couple of C&P exams it most definitely helped, the examiners asked what records pertained to my claims, I showed them, they read it and gave me a rating. Maybe since I moved to another part of the Country the mentality is different. They read the records and then completely ignore them or write contradictory reports.

I submitted the applicable records of my private doctor and never even received a "Do you have anything else to submit" letter--the claim was approved based on my initial submittal (documents). Ron
