I am confused by something and hope you can clear things up.
I got out of the Army March 28, 2011. The VA opened my claim March 29, 2011 according to the E-Benefit page. Today, April 3, 2012 I finally received my decision. I am rated at 90%. The thing that confuses me is it says 'effective December 1,2011' What does this mean? Why is it effective in December if they have had it since March and didn't notify me until April of the next year? My biggest question is this- will they give me back pay from the day the claim was open, or the effective date?
