Does anyone know if the VA will remove tattoos? I had the cosmetic surgery department start to remove one at a Military hospital after I retired but it didn't turn out well so I never tried again. I'm hoping that there are new techniques and the VA is willing to remove them......... anybody try?

I DOUBT IT!! Is it a SERVICE CONNECTED DISABILIYY??USE TRICARE MAYBE THEY WILL PAY FOR IT.. SOMETIMES we have to pay for things ourselves..

A vasectomy isn't a service connected disability either yet the VA covers it..............

The VA hospital in Long Beach, CA just got their own laser for tattoo removal. I'm not sure about other clinics though.

Ask your primary care provider for a referral to dermatology.

The vast majority of Tats can not be totally removed. The process leaves scars, changes in skin texture or color (or both), and other things that will show that something happened to the skin in those areas.

Detail will be gone, and most (if not all color), but a truly perfectly normal looking piece of skin where a tattoo once was is not the most common outcome.
