I am thinking about returning to Pa. (residence at time of entry and discharge fro AD). I was wondering if any current Pa. residents with P&T would know the answer to the following question? I recently learned that if you are P&T in Pennsylvania you could be eligible for exemption of personal residence tax if you meet the income requirements demonstrating financial need. The state website states that the "veteran must prove financial need according to the criteria established by the State Veterans Commission if their annual income exceeds $81,340".
Does Pa. include the spouse's income, or do they simply require that the concerned veteran not make more than the above income? The state site also states that the veteran "must occupy the real estate as his/her principal dwelling" and, that the "dwelling is owned solely by the veteran or as an estate in the entirety". It was from these statements that I wondered if Pa. only considered the income of the veteran since the principal dwelling must only be in the veteran's name!!!
