Posts: 13 Mar 17 12 11:28 AM	Hello my fellow BROTHERS, Last week , while waiting to hear back from my Oncologist/Hematologist at Yale - I decided to contact V.V.A. national, about this problem. They referred me to a more "local" contact , in Hartford, CT. After talking on the land-line for 20 minutes to Htfd. contact, we both discovered that we had the SAME "MOS" - and served the SAME orginazation (oxymoron) , the Army Security Agency!! WOW - How about THAT!! We had some L-E-N-G-T-H-Y discussion about our "jobs" while in Vietnam. John, then asked me to forward any information about the case, which I did, he reviewed it and asked the VERY SAME QUESTIONS ALL OF YOU HAVE ASKED - about including the "Doctors" report! My doctor finally got the 21-0960B-1 compleated , ALONG with a personal letter , on the YALE letterhead from her office, stating the CLL , to be "NOT IN REMISSION". I have just mailed all the documents off to to VVA Senior Representative John. As John explained it , there is *NO CHARGE* for any of his services. He will write the "NOD" , which I have asked for a "copy" to keep in my file regarding this claim. So, my veteran "FAMILY" , that is where I am at for now. It seems the Oncologist/Hematologist wrote a very nice "difinative" letter about my CLL & in the 21-0960B-1 , she did indicate the disease was "ACTIVE"(in the ckeck-box) . The Yale - SMILOW Cancer center report is ALSO included. Thank you all for your encouraging help in this matter. I'LL let you know what happens after the "NOD" is filled. Joe Z. (aka: Zeke)

Posts: 13 May 19 12 10:07 AM	I have filled a "NOD" (March2012) with the V.A. , through my VSO (V.V.A. Representative) regarding my claim for the CLL , which the V.A. denied. Have sent the Oncologist/Hematologist "Report" and also a letter from her to my REP, and then on to VA. ALSO, sent the report from SMILOW cancer center (Yale-New Haven) with those papers to my REP. NOW , I guess we play the waiting game. Thank you all for the support , in getting this moving forward. Posts: 13 Jul 4 12 2:04 PM	Well - an update for JULY 4, 2012 - so far my VVA Service Rep has filled a "NOD" with the VA. (2 months ago) The VA has asked for another conference , with a physicians assistant (not a doctor). 30 minutes in the meeting left me less then hopefull this will go easily. We have submitted to the VA : 5 page report from Yale-Smilow Cancer Center - stating "results are consistent with patient having CLL". A 3 page report from my Oncologist/Hematologist stating "CLL is NOT in remission" ((rebuffing the VA statement - my CLL is in remission )). A letter from my Oncologist stating CLL is "ACTIVE" and very slow growing , "not requiring treatments thus far". A VA form 21-0960B , filled out by my Oncologist - there-in stating the "CLL is NOT IN REMISSION". ((VA is claiming "in remission, not active" )) Just waiting to hear the results from the DRO review. If necessary , we'll have to file for an appeal. Then perhaps off to an attorney after THAT. ?? QUESTION?? Does anyone know if ALL CLL cases are rated 100% ?? (( as I understand it , you either have it , OR , you DON'T )) Thanks for your help and support. 66Zeke67

Posts: 697 Jul 4 12 3:33 PM	IS PAID AT A 100 % BECUASE AS THE VA STATES IN CFR FROM OTHER HEALTH SERVICES WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THE AGENT ORANGE , THAT THIS IS AND STILL IS AN INCURABLE CANCER, NOT THE SAME AS ACL OR NHL AND IN CFR IT HAS ITS OWN LITTLE PARAGRAPH TO THE EFFECT. BUT MOST PEOPLE ARE IN A WAIT AND SEE IN TREATMENT FROM DOC, HECK SOME PEOPLE LIVE TO BE A ARIPE OLD AGE WAITING ON THE WHITE BLOOD CELLS TO "MANIFEST" THERESELVES. SO SIT BACK WAIT BE PATEINT, U HAVE EVERYTHING U NEED FROM THE DOC AND FOR THE VA AND U WILL PROLLYCOLLECT A NICE LITTLE C HECK FOR A LONG TIME, AND I MITE ADD UNLESS U WORKING OR DOING SOMETHING DURING THE DAY? TAKE A LITTLE NAP

Posts: 13 Oct 6 12 1:24 PM	Hello ALL - thank you for your support and encouragement to stick-with-it. The DRO finally re-revied the case for CLL - and with ALL the doctors reports , plus those from the V A Exam for CLL - the decision was changed to 100% - now I can breath a sigh of relief - when this disease starts to get worse, and it will at some point , the VA will treat me for the Leukemia, as "connected" to exposure to AGENT ORANGE. Incidentally - I found a photo taken on my first tour (I am in black t-shirt & subdued shoulder patch) INTRESTINGLY - there is a barrel of agent WHITE in the right-side of photo!!! (plus 2 "burn-barrels" on left for sensitive documents. THANK YOU TO ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT - decision was made LATE SEPTEMBER 2012 - back to Jan. 2012 (retro) Joe Z. ( aka: Zeke )
