Posts: 3 Feb 21 12 1:21 PM	I am 100% rated from the VA combat related. I was also just awarded 100% CRSC but wasn't given an amount. I have 2 years active duty and 10years NG and Reserve time. I am married with one child. My VA compensation is a little over 3000 a month. What can I expect from the CRSC ? With my social security plus crsc and VA I was expecting around 8 to 9K a month. Posts: 99 Feb 21 12 1:54 PM	I believe your figure is too optimistic. I have 25 years AD and am also 100% CRSC I receive $2924 ILO my retirement pay which was $3100. Granted the CRSC is non taxable but I expected to recived the entire $3100 I lost....no joy :-( CRSC is computed via a formula that is a mystery. Best of luck to you. Mortaritaville Iraq 2006-2007

Posts: 117 Feb 21 12 1:59 PM	Just guessing, but I'd say you're a little high. I retired an E-8 w/23 years, and I only draw mid 6's with the three you list. Don't believe anything I say without confirming from a reliable source.

Posts: 44 Feb 21 12 3:53 PM	Well I am about to be retired with 100% and I have a wife and three kids and I am a CW3. I will be drawing Approx $4000 retirement. $2661 SSD $3000 or so from VA = almost 10 g's so to answer your question, yes its possible

Posts: 3220 Feb 21 12 6:22 PM	If you served 20 years active duty you will get your full retirement back thru CRSC. To the OP, with 2 years active duty your MAx CRSC won't be more than $150 a month.

Posts: 3220 Feb 21 12 6:38 PM	I will add a caveat; if you served over 20 years BUT were medically retired at a higher percentage then you earned thru length of service; then CRSC will not restore your full retirement. Only the part of your retirememt based off your years of service times 2.5%. cRSC can be very confusing so I hope I didn't muddy the waters. Balad1 I don't understand how your 100% CRSC rating didn't restore your full retirement. Were you medically retired?

I would think that they would count my active duty time and do some type of formula on my NG / Reserve time to come up with total active years. I guess I will just wait and see. Posts: 3220 Feb 21 12 11:58 PM	Time in IRR does not count as "good years" so I am assuming you don't have a "20 year letter" from the gurad/reserves? There is no calculation to make any reserve/guard drill time count for CRSC length of service calculations. The easiest way is to look at the letter you received from DFAS right after you were placed on retirement; there will be two calculations. Method A and Method B. One is for length of service and the other is disability percentage. You would have automatically received the higher one (disability rating) but the other method will tell you what your MAX CRSC (length of active service retirement) amount is.

Posts: 3 Feb 22 12 9:40 AM	No I dont have a 20 year letter from the reserves. I dont receive anything from DFAS now and I dont know where that letter from DFAS would be. I called the number on the letter today and a lady said that I would be receiving 2600 dollars for CRSC. Im guessing she knows what she is talking about. So everything was pretty close. 3200 VA + 2600 crsc + 1800SSD. That is close enough to 8 grand. I hope she knew what she was talking about. Not to bad for 2 years active duty. It in some way dont seem fair but im not gonna complain about it for sure. Thanks for your input. Let me know if you think the lady is off base. That is what she told me over the phone. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Posts: 35 Feb 22 12 11:35 AM	My husband had about 16 years NG, 2-3 years active. He is medically retired (TDRL 30% in 11/06, PDRL 60% 12/11). He receives $3100+ from VA (100% IU, married, 2 kids), also receives SSDI. His newly adjusted CRSC (MyPay statement 2/21/12, based on change to PDRL), is $139 (was $135 while on TDRL).

Posts: 30 Feb 23 12 2:00 PM	CRSC is hardly anything if you were NG or Reserves. They may count those years on an LES but, But they only count AD years for CRSC. At least it's enough to cover Tricare Prime.
