Guys, here's what's up. I received a deposit in my account from VA o 01/25/2012 for $16,858.
I guess this is my VA retro payment. However, I think the amount is incorrect so let me provide the rest of the information and my calculations.
I retired with 20 years in 2003.
Date of claim was 27 Oct 2010.
Claim closed on 5 Jan 2012
was 20% from 1 Nov 2010 until 1 Dec 2011
Thus, I figure 12 months at the 2009 rate and 2 months at the 2011 rate for the retro.
I was rated 100% on 5 Jan 2012 with an effective date of 27 Oct 2010.
Now the math:
$2673 - $243 = $2,430 x 12 months = $29,160
$2769 - $251 = $2,518 x 02 months = $ 5,036
Total retro pay as I calculate it should be $34,196
Subtracting the VA deposit of $16,858 still leaves $17,338
Am I correct in my understanding that VA owes me more retro or does the additional $17,338 come from DFAS?
Steve
