This was another excellent example of Fanaticbooks' non-vitriolic comments about the discourse in this forum.
I would like to add, and this applies to myself as well, that we could better achieve the goal of common ground by not saying anything to another veteran on-line that they would not say to that veteran in person or face-to-face. Demonizing a sector of Americans or suggesting a person is unpatriotic solely because he/she does not agree with your opinion achieves nothing except possibly hard feelings.
Yes, I know that some will say that they will damn well say whatever they want and whenever they choose and we obviously do have freedom of speech in our wonderful country. But...making derogatory remarks anonymously and/or miles from the recipient is quite different than making a statement to an individual face-to-face where there might be consequences.
In closing, I want to thank the membership of VBN, especially those who assist veterans who have diseases and disabilities, for making this the best site on the Internet for veterans in my opinion. I have greatly benefited from the expertise residing here.
