Just a thought, being I know people that work for that VA Compensation and Evaluation section.  Back in 2001, the wait for a claim may have been 60-90 days.  This is 2013, where we have a total influx of hundreds, and most likely, compiled upon previous claims awaiting closure, you may wait upwards of 18-36 months.  My brother-in-law just retired, and did the early VA program during out processing.  He may wait up to 24-36 months.  I had to resubmit my claim for my dependents.  They mysteriously tossed the paperwork.  I may have to wait upwards of 18-24 months for a claim that was originally submitted back in 2003.  Because they don't have the proof, and I can't find mine, no back pay.  The system is unfortunately flawed.  Each claim packet may have 1-20 claims being evaluated.  Each claim within the packet may take hours if not days to sift through.   You have many claims people training and being thrown into the fire (baptism by fire) learning on the whim.  This means they may miss something that could make or break compensation for the veteran.   Patience is definitely a virtue with the VA process. If 100,00 veterans come back home next year, and they each have 10 claims for compensation, topple that on top of the already heavy workload.  I'm not trying to rain on nobody's parade.  Each case is different.  But, just stop and think.  My friend retired almost two years ago, and did the early VA claims process.  He just got his decision back.  My brother is a Vietnam veteran, took him over 40 years!!!!  BE PATIENT!!!  You will get your decision...
