I plan to take my husband to San Antonio to sign him up for the ILP program. I am going to request that they buy him a bed for his back. He was shot in the left buttocks, damaging three different muscles and nerves including the sciatica nerve. His butt hurts all the time and he cannot lay flat in the bed. I KNOW they will say NO, so that is why I'm asking for any of you on this board that has been successful in getting a bed bought by the VA to please tell me what VA did that for you. I don't need names, I just need the VA or RO that approved an adjustable bed for a veteran with a bad back. I don't mean a hospital bed. We are already sleeping apart and that is weighing heavy on his mind already. He is 100% PTSD P&T, has nightmares all the time and he doesn't sleep well by himself. He is service connected for his muscles and gunshot wound which is where he is constantly hurting. The C&P examiner stated in his report that these muscles and the sciatica nerve damage is causing his lower back pain. Do I need to get his PCP to order this bed? Thanks everyone for your response. I plan to get him in there soon to sign up. It will be a fight, but I'm up for it, that's what I do!
