Appealed Sept. 09, C&P Aug 2010, received automobile grant in March 2010 but for some reason I received the brown envelope from the Salt Lake RO on May 12, 2010 a week before my 40th birthday with terrific news. I received DD on May 10, 2010. This changed my life so I thank Houston and Salt Lake RO for working and finally getting it right after 17 years of on and off appeals since 1994. Was able to buy a new truck and took a overseas trip for the first time in my life but the main thing I stayed patience and never gave up. But whoever the rater was at the Houston RO carefully looked at everything this time and I cant emphasize enough it change my life. A combine 80%. I wish everybody else the same.

Posts: 9 Oct 24 11 1:18 PM	its not over yet,but my husband got his notification letter! first time claimer after 28 years in military. he got out 3 years ago. the claim was filed sept.29th 2010, recieved his not. oct 21st 2011. after i heard of big back log,i contacted senator sullivan's office on sept,27 th 2011 so on oct.21 we got the letter of rating total 70%.i guess we are now waiting on award letter? then i guess within 15 days should get the funds? he also got smc.please contact your senators with your info, they really do help speed up the process,your file will be flagged congressional interest, which will speed your case up! this is so new to us, wanting to know once he starts getting his month checks, and we send in forms to show after a year certain claims are worse they do not stop the checks right? let me know thanks. kayla a soldiers wife!

Posts: 25 Jan 25 12 4:55 AM	In San Antonio (Houston VRO) using VSO at Frank Tejeda. Filed PTSD 30Nov2010, C&P was in Jan2011 w award letter Mar2011. Filed NOD in Aug2011 w updated increase in Dec2011. During this time I filed to add child as dependant in Aug2011. Once I ordered birth certificate, I submitted it to VRO on a thursday and was in ebenefits on Fri afternoon since VBO has a satellite office at Frank Tejeda. Decision phase on the following Monday w money in bank by end of that week. From reading the timelines, it sounds like Houston is processing faster than other ROs. I cant speak for the speed of other claims, but I do have claims current for GWI and Tennitis (based on MOS being on the Noise Exposer list). C&Ps are this week and claim was filed at beginning of Dec so overall I have been very happy with Houston especially when some of the other ROs are reported to be taking 2-3 years.
