okay,
i will try my best to give a simple rundown of events.
i was honorably discharged from the navy in oct of 2005... i was actually med boarded out for chronic right side abdominal pain which resulted from a botched surgery while in the navy. at the time of discharge the reason was "chronic right side inguinal pain" or something very close to that effect. i also had a growing anxiety problem secondary to the primary problem however the anxiety problem was only listed in my medical chart and not in my med board papers.
anyway, i get out and almost immediately file for SC disability with my main focus on the pain and not on the anxiety. ended up getting 10% for anxiety and rated 0% for the inguinal neuropathy. since that time, my anxiety has gotten a lot worse (rated at 50% for it now) and my pain situation has not got any better.
okay, so my questions are:
1) did i file for the wrong thing when filing for the pain in my side? for instance, instead of filing for neuropathy, could i file for chronic pain syndrome since i have been diagnosed with it and since it is something that i could receive a higher rating on that inguinal nerve pain?
2) could filing for chronic pain syndrome in anyway effect my anxiety ruling? basically i am happy with my anxiety ruling and dont want to mess it up, however would like to be properly compensated for my pain and suffering regardless if it results in more money or not.
3) if i did file for the chronic pain syndrome, would they retro it back to my original discharge date since the pain has existed since then or would it start from the time of filing since i filed for it under a different diagnosis?
4) the va math system always confuses me... hypothetically say that i am 50% for anxiety and then say that i got rated 30% for chronic pain syndrome... would that mean i am 50% service connected or what???
at any rate, thanks to all for looking and thanks to everyone here helping out my fellow veterans; you guys do a great job and your work is not unnoticed!
