After discussion, the Admins have agreed that it is impossible to divorce "politics" from the machinations of the VDBC. We have decided that discussion is good, just not political rhetoric beyond reasonable boundaries. Dan, in his infinite wisdom, has written a base "guideline" that is posted below so all can see the parameters.
Here Are the Rules:
- The Admins and Mods accept that an issue regarding a government appointed commission cannot be without some political overtone and underlay. That being the obvious, we ask your cooperation in this forum and in your posts and discussions:
1. Only the issues should be addressed. That means, of course, relaying any information (good or bad) you may factually receive from a commission member, congressional representative or other source, but without degrading the source.
2. The colloquial, jocular, or otherwise "street terms" used elsewhere have no place in any discussion in this forum. Folks, this is too important an issue and we certainly no not need members calling other members or officials street names.
3. Stick to the facts! If a commissioner or congressional representative is side stepping the issue, by all means, point it out (without the bashing, slamming, etc.)
4. Share information...not just frustration (we all have enough of that to go around and most had more than their share...no need to spread it).
5. Politics in this forum is limited to fact and issue. It doesn't matter who is in office, whether we care for them or not, nor whether we will vote for them in the future. What matters is that we address them, address the commission, openly share what we garner from our research and correspondence, and stay focused on the issue of the VDBC...not the other politics of the key players.
6. The admins of the board have the right to call a foul on something that may not necessarily break a "rule" but doesnt conform to the "spirit" of the discussion.
