The bill (HR 6238) has been introduced several times but has yet to make it out of committee. The bill known as the Fort McClellan Health Registry Act never became law. The last action on the bill was 10/20/10 when it was referred to the Subcommittee on Military Personnel.. If you have additional information that could shed more light on this subject please post it here. Links to changes to CFR Title 38 or where it was placed on the federal register (both would have to be done for this to become law) to be considered would be helpful. As an active VSO I haven't heard anything on this. Mater of fact I just had a veteran denied service connection for Diabetes type II whose claim was based on service at Ft. McClellan in 1967-68. Posts: 17424 Apr 12 11 1:02 PM	Wishful thinking, nothing more. Every year bills like this are introduced but never go anywhere. For example, as a retired civil service employee my Social Security benefits are dramatically reduced due to the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) of law. Every year for as long as I can remember there have been bills, usually more than one, introduced to reduce or eliminate the WEP. These bills usually have a large number of sponsors; however, none has ever gotten out of Committee, nor will one ever likely do so. Politicians introduce these type bills to garner favor with certain groups when in fact there is literally no chance that they will become law. In fact, there have been situations in the past when a politician introduced a bill to great fanfare from the target group, and then quietly voted against it later. Cruiser

Posts: 1600 Apr 13 11 2:16 AM	DOD/Govt will get a waiver for it to be immune. This year the Federal EPA is issuing DOD a waiver for the TCE (trichloroethylend) sitting in the bottom of the Guam Water Table. http://yosemite.epa.gov/r9/sfund/r9sfdocw.nsf/vwsoalphabetic/Andersen+Air+Force+Base?OpenDocument Scroll down to where it says "Marbo Annex". TCE has pooled up in the bottom of the water table. Every August during dry season the water wells pump up the bottom of the water table trying to provide enough fresh water for the people there...and starts sucking up salt water. Poor Marines from Okinawa and their kids are going to be showering/drinking that. They won't be able to get disability compensation....it's getting Federally Waivered by Obama this year.

Posts: 4629 Apr 13 11 12:38 PM Navy Chief Initiated by Choice Proud of Tradition	This morning I contacted my local VAMC Environmental Health Coordinator, she urged me to file a SCD at once and attach a copy of the bill introduced in the 111th congress along with all the research I have from the site I linked in the post above. VA can not by law grant a claim based on a bill. There is just no basis for a grant. I fear the person you are speaking with is leading you on a wild goose chase. She should be tarred and feathered.
