Hi, I am new member to the Veterans Benefits Network. Last November I was diagnosis with inclusion body myositis (IBM), a muscle wasting disease with no cure and no effective medical treatment. Recently, a friend suggested that I file a VA claim for this disability because of my exposure to agent orange as marine during the Viet Nam conflict. I started the claims process last week.
My question relates to whether or not this condition is covered. My research indicates that IBM may be closely related to AL Amyloidosis. AL Amyloidosis is a condition that results from amyloid, an abnormal protein, entering tissues or organs. I had a muscle biopsy, which indicated amyloid was present in my muscle tissue. Any comments, suggestions, and advice related to how to proceed with this condition would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, EMG results indicated peripheral neuropathy. I am also considered pre-diabetic.
