E-Benefits, checking claims status....What do you think of it?

Posts: 19 Mar 21 11 8:02 PM	Tags : None Please list the RO that your claim is through and what you think about the Ebenefits site. Is it keeping you up to date on your claim? Just curious... Personally, the site seems like joke to me. I have been "in person" authenticated, and I too believed that it might help me in tracking the status of my claim, but it also depends on what RO you are dealing with. My claim is through the Atlanta RO and they are SORRY, it hasn't been updated since it was posted initially, they claim they are waiting on medical records from an outside provider that I know for a fact faxed them the documents over a month ago. So for me, it hasn't done anything but get my hopes up before every log in. The claim was filed 09/14/2010, and they have yet to post anything new....give me a break. A 1/76 FA, 3rd ID OIF III 80% Service Connected

Posts: 47 Mar 21 11 8:40 PM	Odd day for you to mention it, i have a post up about how the varo (Salt lake city) is stalling my claim because they need my C&P's, yet the most recent activity my claim shows is them sending me copies of all my c&P's, which i received. Now don't get me wrong, I think the E-benefits site is really convenient. It allows me to express my newfound ocd 3-4 times a day I just wish it would update in order. I understand it doesn't update in real time, but my example shows a silly aspect of it. I did call the 1-800 number today for the first time. I think I will stick with e-benefits from now on. BTW, waiting on hold for my operator, I had an idea. Rather than force us all to listen to music that I have a suspicion that possible nobody actually likes, Imagine if they said this "You are about to be placed on hold. Press 1 for Rock, press 2 for pop, press 3 for country, etc etc.... It would be so simple to implement, yet such an improvement. Although us falling asleep does lower their workload, so perhaps the music has its own purpose.

The last update I saw on mine was in October 2010 updating the due date from the VAMC..except that I took in the results from the VAMC in late Sept. Repeatedly (during visits to the VARO) they asked whether I went to the July C&P exam. Finally,in late Feb, the VARO customer service rep told me all of my papers were in and that I just had to wait for them to have time to work my claim. The VARO said they are working on June to July 2010 claims but the team that has my claim assigned to it is behind and has not yet gotten to my early APR 2010 claim. (No appeals.) So, eBenefits has not been updated in 5 months for my claim, my claim has had all documents in for over 6 months and no action has been taken, nor has eBenefits been updated. When I made this claim, I thought it would be a "cream puff" type claim that would be quickly rated - boy was I wrong, Now I just wait and wait. Mine involves a lot of back pay (from CRDP) so I expect to wait another 2 months after any decision to receive back pay from DFAS. The letter generator on eBenefits is good though.

Posts: 47 Mar 22 11 12:51 AM	Now you know you've gone beyond ocd when you catch yourself checking it at times that it couldn't possibly changed since the last time you checked. Like checking Friday evening followed by checking Saturday and Sunday for good measure. Ebenefits intervention anyone?

Posts: 6 Mar 22 11 3:23 AM	Muskogee seems to be on the ball last friday the 11th got a letter from DAV telling me my tenative results the 18th ebenefits changes from descison to notification today the 21st ebenefits goes from notification to closed the letter generator was unavailable for about 2 weeks I guess untill decison was final but it now shows my new rating i am about to start a new claim i just got a copy of my service medical records and founds some things that I had forgot about currently i am 10% R knee 10% L Knee 10% tinnitus 30% combined i am about to start a new claim for insommnia with sleep apnea ankle secondary to L Knee Major Depressive Disorder( I also have PTSD but i think proving the stressor might be to hard) incontinunce One piece of advice I would like to pass on before you start your claim look over your records then look over the CFR ratings Schedule and if you are honest with yourself you can get a good idea what you should get

Posts: 87 Mar 22 11 5:49 AM	Chuck Muskogee is mine as well. How long did it take for your claim to go through? I am waiting on a SSOC. My SOC was the same word for word as the NOD and new evidence had been presented. So I am wanting them to look at THAT again.

Posts: 6 Mar 22 11 3:20 PM	i filed my claim on jun 15 2010 it went into decison phase on 9-15 Nod's it seems like across the board are not bieng touched untill they have been in for a year i have been checking my bank acct every few hours looking for my deposit I am expecting my offical notification from VA to be in my mailbox tormorrow

I have used ebenefits for approximately a year now. My VARO is in NC and has been updated only when people have actively worked my claim. We must remember ebenefits is still new to VBA. I am sure many kinks still need working out, there are millions of users and 10's of thousand's who input information . This is how I understand it to be since the people who work claims have to meet a quota(point system) once they complete their part , they update the system and this entails updates with their workload documentation and updates -in VBA- which should update ebenefits system. So it would be who of them to update this. Now someone else may come along and be able to add more to VBA staff workload documentation. Lessons are learned from mistakes made

Posts: 901 May 29 11 10:42 AM	I am at the Pittsburgh VARO and they seem to keep mine updated on a regular basis, that is to say when someone works on my claim they update ebene's. I recall reading somewhere on here that each VARO determines how often they update it and how they update it due to integration issues with older software at some VARO's. I am pretty pleased with it so far and think it should get better with time as the issues (or features as we call them in the computer industry...lol) are worked out and more and more VARO's realize they can cut down on phone calls if they update more frequently.

Posts: 135 May 29 11 10:58 AM	I use the Phuilly VARO and they seem to update changed my VSO purple heart and that guy sucked sat there and drank coffee and every 6 months would say just wait hasn't been that long yet. Anyway have a lawyer and they changed the VSO part in about 2 weeks. Still in desicion phase since 16 Sept. Guess I will wait. Money in the bank.

Could we download and print the account history page in support of claim? Man I am out of control; 9-10 log ins a day since my claim was submitted. and for us paranoid types; what if they use the history page as a monitor of what I do all day???? Sleep, log in and out. Posts: 300 May 30 11 9:58 AM	We've only been using eBenefits for 4 or 5 days, but at this point I don't see that it's very informative. Since the site was down over the weekend it doesn't show any of his claims anymore. I guess hubby's VARO (N Little Rock, AR) doesn't keep things up to date very well either. Before this weekend’s maintenance on the site it showed his claim was closed almost a year ago, but is showing new info submitted (his C & P exam) as recent as the 24th of this month. It does show his appeal to be active, but the only information there is that it was submitted and it's still at the local VARO. I did send an email to IRIS in an attempt to get the latest info. We've never tried to call Peggy since hubby doesn't deal with stuff like this very well (it causes him to much anxiety) and I'm pretty darn sure they won't tell me anything
