Posts: 78 Feb 25 11 12:51 PM	Tags : None I just got a copy of my Mental Health Records Here is what it says: DIAGNOSTIC IMPRESSION: Axis I: 300.4 Dysthymic Disorder 300.01 Panic Disorder R/O Trauma-related anxiety response/PTSD Axis II: 301.20 Schizoid Personality Disorder Axis III: Financial Problems, Health Problems, Problems related to primary support system Axis IV Many Medical Problems Axis V: GAF = 45 Then There is a formal from a 2nd VA Phychologist DIAGNOSTIC IMPRESSION: 1. Depressive Disorder, recurrent 2. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder 3. Impulse control disorder All can be traced back to a car accident in 1979 while on activity duty. Now my question is are they saying I have PTSD? The GAF is that LOW? I put in for PTSD on the Doctors word should I have waited? Thanks Lionel

From your description above you have been diagnosed with several issues, the VA typically only rates you for one and its really hard to predict how they will rule from the sidelines. The r/o means not enough evidence yet to sustain a full diagnosis but indications show that symptoms relate to a particular disorder, in your case one dr says they are not sure if its PTSD or not. Of course the other does... Like mazboy says finding a good VSO (Veterans Service Officer) may help you, I think if you do your homework in the form the FAQ link above you will know where you stand before then and getting all your records together makes yours and their life easier if you do have to submit further paperwork or appeals. Posts: 78 Feb 26 11 10:51 PM	Let me tell what happen to this point. The psychiatrist I was seeing for 2 years would say Dysthymic Disorder with a GAF of 60. When I pressed the issue about PTSD, (due to what I saw on this site) she added R/O PTSD. She then sent me to a new Psychiatrist who specialized in PTSD, who gave me the diagnostic impression PTSD. She then sent me to the phychologist for a Neuropsychologial Evaluation due to sever concussion syndrome, she gave me the GAF of 45 (seen above), and the R/O PTSD. That is whats happen so far I have 2 R/O and 1 yes.
