Got news from 800 # that on January 13, 2011 my claim was ASSIGNED to a DRO. Before that it was Pending DRO review for 5 prior months. Does anyone have an idea how long it takes a DRO to review and make a decison ONCE an Appeal has been assigned to him/her? I also submitted proof of financial hardship because though Social Security is good the V.A. is garnishing the heck out of my SS for my copays.
Initially denied @ N.O. Reginal Office in 01/10 as they applied the WRONG rules of law and ignored the fact I am a Combat Vet of the GW Era. Just to be honest New Orleans Regional Office is waaayyyyy OFF the mark. With a legal background I have read some SOC's of other Vets and can't undestand how some of these folks still have a job.
09/10 Moved my file to Waco (Waco has been a breath of fresh air for a Vet who was at wits end with his Country....as are many Vets.)
PTSD (Severe Depression via C&P and V.A. Shrink I been seeing for years)
Uncontrolled Hypertension (Sometimes BP Meds work...Sometime they don't) (Me and Doc's are at a loss after weight loss and diet change)
CKD Stage 3 (Secondary to hypertension)
Sleep Apnea w/CPAP (Secondary to PTSD)
Migrains (Treated w/ Atenol for years)
Chronic Sinusitus (I said b/c oil fires)
Swelling of the ankles
To answer the naysayers.....Yes I take medicine for ALL the conditions. I have been going to the V.A. since 92 when I first noticed I had a sore that would not heal for 8 months, on my leg, and just as it came it disappeared. Not a guy that asks for a thing especially since I am a Lawyer that has lost the right to practice for punching a guy in the face. However, I as MANY Vets are macho and ignore the WARNING SIGNS until it costs us dearly! Take it from me and use me as an example....GET FRICKEN HELP!!!
But back to the call of the question...Any idea as to how long? Though I am in month 5 of a DRO appeal AT A NEW R/O AND DRO.This is a 2.6 year old claim from the initial file date.
