So I have been reading around the forums for a few hours trying to find some answers. Everyone here seems pretty knowledgeable so I hope someone can help me out. I ETSed (honorable discharge) from the active duty army in July 2010 after 4 years of service. Since I still had the remaining reserve time I decided to transition to the drilling reserves. A few days ago I was notified I received 60% disability from the VA. From my research I know I can’t receive both and one pay will be offset. I was told if I was over 30% I would be put out. My spouse is currently active duty and we are stationed overseas. I go to drill with an active duty unit so I don’t really have a unit administrator I can talk to. Everyone around me is active duty, I submit all my paperwork to an officer and she emails it to a unit in the states to take care of all my personnel needs. So I’m wondering what to do. Like I said the people at my unit don’t know how to deal with me because I’m a reservist. How do I start the process to leave the reserves? Are there any forms the VA would give me? Do I have to go through another set of medical evaluations or is the VA fine? I did an ETS physical, but that was it. Thank you for your time.
