I was with the hhq battery 2nd 71st Air defense (Hawk Missles) I went to all of our line batteries for inspections. Bravo Battery was at Camp Casey. ROK provided security for all the missle sites and used AO outside the fences. I lived at Camp Warner at Mickey Mouse Corner and later at Camp Red Cloud. Don't know if I will get the award for AO, but I am trying. I got there in June 1968 and left June 1969.

Posts: 9 Dec 14 10 3:50 AM	Joining the group. Unit: 7th Bn, 17th Arty, 2nd Inf Div Tour: 9/1967-11/1968 Location: Camp Saber Claim Status: Filed 14 May 2010: IHD and Leukemia. Long history of CAD (7/1988)...MI's, stents, nuclear stress tests, meds, etc.,etc.................Leukemia (12/2009) Patiently waiting. Is it possible our fellow DMZ'rs (Korea) are unaware of A/O ? Feel like an orphan.

Most of the emphasis is for the VN Vet AO issue, and few know the story, and very rare number, of Korea DMZ vets. Remember we part of the 'The 2nd Korea War'. I have talked with the few buds I still have contact with, and 'we' fortunately are aware and trying to make contact with as many ROK vets as we can identify. Posts: 9 Mar 18 11 3:45 AM	The VA expanded the Korea DMZ service dates from between 4/1968 thru 7/1969 to between 4/1968 thru 8/1971. These dates apply only to those units previously listed in this thread. With this expansion, more claims should be approved. How many of us are still awaiting the "brown envelope" ???? I'm quessing there are 6 or 7 of us. For you information 'Peggy' told me that I'm a Nehmer 681. Best to us all , Country Buff.

Posts: 20 Sep 21 11 9:43 PM	I filed a claim for retro benefits as a widow and was denied, no boots on ground in Nam. My husband was with the 2ond div. 5/38th which is listed in the time frame of 68-69 that he served. Upon his arrival home he had severe noise bleeds and breathing problems, two years latter he had extremely high blood pressure. then heart attack in1985, 5 by-passes in 1990, diabetes, thyroid, and copd. he had dif/pacemaker put in 1997 and was recomened for heart transplant at that time.He had ischemic heart for about 23 years. he filed for disability in 1998, 2000, and 2002 all of which were denied, said he had to prove he was exposed to AO. So I guess Korean widows are treated differently than Nam widows. Anyone know about Korean widows that had service connection and retro benefits?

Posts: 27 Nov 25 11 12:23 PM	Just filed 11-11-11 for IHD. Had heart attack in 06 with current EF of 50% and mets at 12.5. 2nd inf div, 1/38th. I also have DVT since 1978. I filed all military and medical records. Hoping for the best and expecting the worst! Also, I was there from May 69 to July 70. I was 11b20. Drove gun jeep in recon platoon. We escorted the troops in the duece and a halfs to the dmz bunkers. I hope the troops that my KATUSA gunner accidentally fired on made it home OK. Several went down. Never did hear and never saw my gunner again either. Edited 2 times by dave1948 Dec 15 11 5:07 PM.
