I am just curious if anyone knows the scale on which they rate TBI claims.. I was in 4 different IED explosions in Iraq in 2003-2004. I have filed a claim and having been waiting the past 6 months to hear from them.. I have yet to have a comp and pen on the matter, but supposively my claim is at the rating board.
A little bit about myself.. I suffer horrendesly from Insomnia, getting about 1 1/2 hours of sleep a night. The VA has had me on different sleeping medications for the past few years and it is a hit or miss... I might sleep well for a month, but then slump back into not sleeping again. When I do sleep I have nightmares, and toss and turn all night, waking up even more tired than when I went to bed. I have strong headaches and ringing in my ears constantly. I also "twitch" real bad in my arms, and i cant stop tapping my foot. Anxiety runs high. I was denied at one point for TBI, with the doctors blaming it on PTSD, but then was called back from the VA for a different test. ( supposively they rate TBI differently now ). I am currently receiving 60% disability and am curious if anyone knows my chances of receiving a TBI claim.. 3 different doctors in the VA system have diagnosed me with mild TBI.
Currently 50% for PTSD, 20% for back pain ( I have had to have 2 surgeries since I got out of the army in 2005 due to 2 hurniated discs and degeneration in the spine ), 10% for tinnitus, and now I have the TBI claim in.
Anyone have any idea on if my claim for TBI is valid, or does it sound like it is just PTSD? I have a hard time concentrating, so trying to research on it leaves my head hurting.
Also, what are the ratings normally given out for TBI? I know every case is different, but I wasnt sure how it is rated.
Thanks in advance.
