Posts: 4 Feb 26 12 2:50 PM	my husband passed away in 1993 from IHD, he served two tours in vietnam the last time was on whiskey mountain. He had two triple bypass surgery and the last 8 months he was on the list for a hear transplant. He filed for benefits in 1983 and again in 1987 . I was contacted by the va Oct. 2010 when they reopened his case. it is suppose to be in final reveiw. will this stage take another 6 months to get a answer? Does anyone no what the real time line is at this stage.Thank you for all the work you are all doing . It is good to have some where to look up needed anwser to the million question we , the widows, have. thank you again.

Posts: 26 Feb 28 12 2:34 PM	Helen, Like Lou said, "it takes what it takes" and you can only guess how long. I'm in a similar situation as you. My husband passed away from IHD and I filed for DIC in July 2010. He previously filed IHD claims as far back as 1991 and the claim is currently at the Seattle RO. I received a call from them 2 weeks ago with news that they awarded service-connection for IHD. They wanted to verify direct deposit info, ect... Anyway, it has been almost 20 months and I'm still waiting but hopefully not for long. I understand that they are working furiously to complete these claims and I imagine you should be hearing something in the very near future. The VBN boards have been very helpful for me over these months. I've learned a lot and it has been a great support just reading other people's stories and experiences. I got all my DIC back to 93 and my husbands retro back to 86. Thank you all for you help and your kind words and encourgement to keep me going. Monday I am going to pay my house off. that is wonderful feeling. wow, it is still hard to believe; I always knew that God was watching over me and leading me through the tough , lean years, Now I know Our country takes care of its own. Good luck to everyone that is still waiting, just hang in there , don't ever give up. Keep Praying, God answers all prayers in His way and in His time. wow thanks again you are a wonderful group doing awesome work.
