Recently at my very small commissary, they started to scan the ID cards for all sells.
This is something that they never did before except by looking at the ID to see if it was still valid.
When asked why they are now scanning the ID cards, the cashier replied back that if anyone owes money to the government then their shopping privilege have been suspended until the government debt is paid.
I asked what kind of government debt? Does this mean like State/Federal Taxes, Government loans, VA medical bills that are service connected, school loans, Star Military Card?
When I asked those questions she didn’t have an answer except that is the new policy and doesn’t know what type of debt could suspend someone shopping privilege.
I was able to shop but my question is this,
Is this happening at all the commissaries now or is this something that is in a trial run.
I like to know what debts that are owed to the government that could affect ones shopping privilege.
How many times has the VA tried to make me pay for medicine that is service connected?
A question was asked earlier about the bar code on the ID card.
If you don’t have a bar code ID card yet don’t get one till you know what the commissary is doing.
Right now they are still taking the old ID cards but I want to know if this is only happening at a few locations or not.
I also like to know what government debts are they talking about to suspend your privilege.
I guess soon, you wont even to be able to get on base to see your medical Dr because you owe a debt of some kind.
I actually do see that happening.
You owe a debt but you can not come on base to see your medical doctor.
