I was discharged in 1972 and later received a 10% SC for a lower back problem. This was based on a herniated disc I got in 1971. I have continued with back problems ever since, at times worse than other times. I had a private orthopedic physician tell me my condition is Degenerative Disc Disease in 2002, based on an MRI and Xrays. It must have progressed to this stage from the original VA diagnosis in 1972. Still suffering with this condition, at times it lays me up for days in at a time.
Any ideas about how the VA might look at the "degenerative Disc Disease" issue it has now become ? I haven't brought it to anyones attention at the VA, nor have I requested anything more than the original 10%. Whenever I visit the VA hospital, I feel very fortunate to be living with a back problem - many vets are far worse off than I am. But this problem has continued to plaque me daily. Would it be advantageous to request a new evaluation, and if so, how would I go about doing that ?
Thanks in advance,
