Hi guys... my husband returned home from Iraq... he was there in 2005-2006 and was diagnosed with thyroid cancer on his postdeployment physical. The VA has acknowledged that his cancer was "combat related".... he has a very aggressive form of papillary cancer. he has had 4 surgeries, radioactive iodine and external beam treatments and he is still not cancer free now in 2010. he is still active duty army.... he does not receive any VA benefits because he is still active duty. wondering if there is a way to find out just how many vets have gotten thyroid cancer from overseas???? ..... and what there situation is? This sucks! we have been dealing with this incurable cancer and would love to find some military support system and find out just how many are affected by this!
