Posts: 184 Aug 2 10 11:06 PM	Tags : None My Husband received his Rating on Friday.He now is 70% disabled.We would like to know how soon after you receive that letter you usually get the Check ? The letter which is dated July 23rd says within 15 days,when we called the 1- 800 # today they told us that goes from the 29th when the letter was mailed ??? What's the experience for you guys ?? It was the Inital Claim and we are in WA. Thanks Nat

Posts: 10265 Aug 3 10 1:06 AM	Check Your Bank Account on Saturday. My Last Decision Letter was Dated on Tuesday...I got the Decision Letter on Wednesday. And the Money was in my back Account on Saturday Morning. But, as it is in Life...when it happens...it happens. I hope your when it happens...happens...at least as FAST. Survivir

Don't forget if he has been paying copay for his medicine, then carry the brown envelope to the insurance office at the VA and you'll get all the copay he has paid, back to the effective date on his claim.The copay take close to a month and comes to your mail box. Posts: 3697 Aug 3 10 6:03 AM	Glad you heard the good news. In my experience -- all of my claims -- the bank deposit was before the notification letter. I did get notification from the DAV early on, but the bank deposit followed a few days later and the official notification letter followed in a few days. The hard part is over. Now just relax and enjoy your retro and regular pay. Be sure you follow up on any copays you may have made, as it sometimes is a large amount. Have you looked into SSDI and IU? Posts: 184 Aug 3 10 11:48 AM	Yeah Dave.We actually applied for SSDI yesterday and I also mailed off the IU Application to the VA yesterday. He was just recently hospitalized due to a nervous breakdown from PTSD and is now scheduled to return to the Hospital for a 17 day Inpatient Treatment inh September and then most likeley he will also do the longer Inpatient Treatment at American Lake ..... So to cut it short,right now he is in no shape to work. And besides ,his eye exam turned out to be so bad, (20 /200 in the injured eye) that he can throw his CDL in the trash. I just hope to God that he at least gets SSDI. I hardly doubt the IU since that seems hard to get approved but with a disability rating of 70%...he should at least get SSDI until he IS better. Anyways, as far as the money goes,We didn't give them our account info at the time we filed and then simply forgot to give it to the American Legion Rep to send it in ,so we are waiting for a Check.... But thanks for the Info. If you have any Info on SSDI and IU please let me know. Thanks Nat
