I have a question if anyone can be of assistance. Here is the scenario:
A VietNam vet(boots on ground) is receiving presumptive service connected compensation for DM2. The Veteran is taking oral medicine for DM2 and is rated at 20%. The Veteran has been receiving compensation for 5 years. The veteran has contracted another disease, non-service connected and several years after the DM2 decision, that as with DM2 can also cause PN. The Veteran is now experiencing PN of his legs and or arms. PN is confirmed by a private neurologist via EMG/NCT tests but cannot say which disease is the cause of it. Should the veteran file for an increase for service connection to his DM2 compensation? How will it be determined by the VA as to what the cause for the PN is as far as filing a SC increase claim for PN for DM2?
I guess this scenario can apply to other service connected diseases and non service connected diseases that can both cause further complications.
Thank you for any information.
