You can access your claim and see exactly where it is at and what has been done, much like what your VSO can access!
You will get a security certificate warning, don't worry about it. The website is run by the DOD and their security is higher than normal and shopping cart security certificates do not read it. If you go to the sites FAQ section under help it tells you all about it, here is what it says:
Is the eBenefits Portal secure?
The eBenefits site uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology, now
Transport Layer Security (TLS), a communications protocol that provides
security for communications over networks such as the Internet. SSL and
TLS encrypt network connections end-to-end.
eBenefits sometimes accesses DoD Websites to support account creation, logging in, and displaying service information. DoD uses strong security certificates that are not available elsewhere and are sometimes not recognized by Web browsers that are usually configured to recognize commercial certificates like those used for online shopping. Your browser will alert you to an unknown security certificate. When you see this, double-check that the browser is attempting to reach a DoD system (the URL will always end with a .mil), and instruct your browser that this is OK.
As always, when accessing your eBenefits account from a public
location, use caution when entering or viewing personal information, and
always remember to logout and close the browser window when you are
finished.
You first need to register with the DOD, when you hit the register button it will take you to the DOD page to establish your user name and password. Once you do this you go back to ebenefits.va.gov and log in and you are at level 1 where you can see basic information. To see your claims info and other personal info you need to take 2 pieces of ID that has a picture, ID number and issuance date to your regional office. Your VA health card will not work (ask me how I know!). They will then raise you to level 2 where you can see everything.
Finally the VA has done something that is helpful to us vets! And, should cut there workload as we won't be calling them every week to see what is going on!
Any questions, PM me. Mod's you may want to pin this.
