Just a quick question. Would a conversion disorder stem from PTSD? My husband had "stroke" like symptoms two years ago that required three months of extensive therapy for rehabilitation. We put in for an increase of his sc PTSD only to have it raised slightly due to the raters never looking at his cerebral vascular accident being ruled out and diagnosed as having had a conversion reaction. Many MRI's, EEG's were used to rule a stroke out. A private Neurologist and the VA Director of Psychiatry ruled it as a conversion reaction. He underwent a battery of 4-5 hour long tests and this was concluded. They stated they could not warrant anything higher due to it being diagnosed as a stroke and non service related. My husband is on all kinds of psych meds and he no longer is working. This has caused such a devastation to our family not to mention I had had to quit my job to care for him and came so close to losing our home. Why would the raters say it was a stroke when they did not bother examining all the tests, findings of the Neuropsychilogical tests, etc. What can be done to address this? Thanks to all.
