On Wednesday march 10, The Senate Armed Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Personnel and Readiness held their annual hearing to gain insights from DoD personnel executives and veteran service organizations. While it was no surprise that the VSOs recommended expansion of CRDP, Secretary Stanley, Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, (replaced Dr. Chu) stated in his submitted testimony, support for CRDP expansion:
At the same time, in seeking that broader equity and Department-wide impact, we see a win-win opportunity in expanding the concurrent receipt program to include military disability retirees with less than 20 years of service regardless of disability rating. This expansion would cover our most challenged retirees by allowing them to receive retired pay for their years of service performed and VA disability compensation for their future reduced earning capability.
